Pace Calculator
Enter distance and time for pace per km/mile, or enter pace to estimate finish time.
Pace and finish time
Runners and walkers usually talk in pace — minutes per kilometre or per mile — rather than speed in km/h. Enter distance plus hours, minutes and seconds; average pace = total minutes ÷ distance, and speed = distance ÷ time in hours. Match the site distance unit to the pace unit you care about (metric for min/km, imperial for min/mile). The result is average pace only: it does not model hills, splits or intervals. Use race distance and goal finish time without warm-up miles if you are targeting a chip time. For solving generic trip unknowns in km/h terms use speed distance time; for clock-based journey ends see arrival time.
Worked example
10 km in 0:55:00 is a 5:30 / km average pace (about 10.91 km/h).
Limits and assumptions
Average pace across the whole distance — not elevation, wind, splits or treadmill calibration error.
Frequently asked questions
How do I get minutes per mile?
Switch the site distance preference to miles so pace is reported per mile.
Should warm-up distance be included?
For race goal pace, enter the race distance and goal finish time only; keep warm-ups separate.
Does treadmill pace use the same maths?
Yes, if the belt distance and elapsed time are accurate.
Can I plan interval repeats here?
Calculate each rep’s distance and time separately; this page averages one continuous effort.
