Marks to percentage
Converting exam or coursework marks to a percentage is score ÷ maximum × 100. Enter marks earned and the paper’s maximum to see the percentage, how many marks remain to a perfect score, and an indicative letter band (UK-style first / 2:1 style labels) for rough orientation only — your school or exam board’s published boundaries always win. Negative marking belongs in the net score you enter after penalties. For modules with different weights, do not average raw percents by hand; use the weighted grade calculator, and for “what do I need on the final?” see final grade needed.
Worked example
42 marks out of 60 → 70.0%. The simple indicative table labels that as First / A territory; your institution may differ.
Limits and assumptions
Letter bands are illustrative only. GPA scales, curved cohorts and board-specific boundaries are not applied.
