Wedding Table Planner
Enter guests and seats per table to see how many tables to book and leftover seats.
How many wedding tables do I need?
Wedding table counts are simple ceiling division: tables = ceil(guests ÷ seats per table). Leftover seats equal tables × seats minus guests — useful buffer for late RSVPs or vendor meals if your venue allows. Round tables and long banquets use the same maths once seats-per-table is fixed; the hard part is seating politics, not arithmetic. Uneven last tables can be rebalanced by hand after the calculator gives a minimum table count. Pair floor capacity checks with the event seating tool and cost planning with event budget.
Worked example
118 guests ÷ 10 seats → 12 tables, 120 seats provided, 2 leftover seats, fill ≈ 98%.
Limits and assumptions
Does not assign VIPs, kids’ tables or dance-floor clearances.
Frequently asked questions
Should vendors sit in the guest count?
If they eat in the room during speeches, yes — otherwise keep them out of table maths.
What if I want emptier tables?
Lower seats per table or raise table count manually after seeing leftovers.
Sweetheart table?
Subtract those two seats from the main guest pool before dividing.
Mixed table sizes?
Split the guest list into groups per size and sum tables from each group.
