HEX RGB HSL Converter
Enter a hex colour to see RGB and HSL (and a quick CMYK-ish screen estimate).
Hex to RGB and HSL
Design tools constantly swap between HEX, RGB and HSL. HEX (hexadecimal) codes like #2A6F97 pack red, green and blue into six hex digits; RGB (red, green, blue) spells the same colour as 0–255 channels; HSL (hue, saturation, lightness) is often easier for nudging tints. Paste or pick a HEX value to see RGB and HSL, plus a rough screen CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, key/black) estimate that is not press-ready. Use CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) forms such as #RRGGBB, rgb() or hsl() interchangeably once converted. Explore related hues with colour shade, or find wheel opposites via complementary colour.
Worked example
Default #2A6F97 converts to rgb(42, 111, 151). HSL is derived from those channels for lighter/darker edits in design tools.
Limits and assumptions
CMYK here is a simple screen approximation, not ICC print separations. Invalid HEX strings are rejected.
Frequently asked questions
What do HEX, RGB and HSL mean?
HEX is a hexadecimal colour code. RGB is red/green/blue channel intensities. HSL is hue (degrees on the colour wheel), saturation and lightness.
What about CSS colour functions?
CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) accepts #hex, rgb()/rgba() and hsl()/hsla(). Convert here, then paste the form your stylesheet uses.
Are three-digit HEX codes allowed?
Yes — #2A6 expands to #22AA66 style doubling; prefer six digits when sharing tokens.
Can I use this for print CMYK?
No — treat CMYK output as indicative only. Ask your printer for profiled separations.
